What is PHP?

PHP is a server-side scripting language designed primarily for web development but also used as a general-purpose programming language. Originally created by Rasmus Lerdorf in 1994,

PHP originally stood for Personal Home Page, but it now its an acronyme for the PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor. PHP code may be embedded into HTML, or it can be used in combination with various web template systems ,web content management systems and web frameworks.

Welcome To PHP

PHP is used for making websites dynamic. HTML and CSS only provide structure and styling. PHP is a server side language, meaning it is not understand by the browser. PHP can tell you the time, translate information, do math, connect to databases and more. Its an open source language meaning you don't need a license to develop with it. It has the ability to generate HTML, loop over sections of content based on conditions, ask the computer questions and similar programming functions.

PHP Frameworks

For a web developer, designing a complex, yet attractive website in a short span of time is a big challenge. This is where PHP Language frameworks prove to be useful.

Frameworks can be used to develop websites of all sizes and complexity. The most popular ones include WordPress, Laravel, Symfony, CodeIgniter and Phalcon, to name a few. Learning PHP Language is now not an impossible task, one can learn from the PHP Tutorials. php tutorial is the new in thing for the young coders out there and freshers who seek a new future.

WHY LEARN PHP

Two decades after its inception, PHP has registered a phenomenal growth and is still going strong. Today, it controls over 80% of all the websites on the globe. This includes majors like Facebook, Wikipedia and WordPress among others.

PHP is used by 82.3% of all the websites whose server-side programming language we know. PHP is crazy among the developers who are trying to shape up the world in their wacky and colourful coding world. There are more than 20 million websites designed using PHP which tells about the need to understand its impact on developers and the coding world in particular.

There are lot more things you can do with PHP.

  • You can generate dynamic pages and files.
  • You can create, open, read, write and close files on the server.
  • You can collect data from a web form such as user information, email, credit card information and much more.
  • You can send emails to the users of your website.
  • You can send and receive cookies to track the visitor of your website.
  • You can store, delete, and modify information in your database.
  • You can restrict unauthorized access to your website.
  • You can encrypt data for safe transmission over internet.

Advantages of PHP over Other Languages

If you're familiar with other server-side languages like ASP.NET, you might be wondering what makes PHP so special. There are several advantages why one should choose PHP over other languages. Here are some of them:

  • Easy to learn: PHP is easy to learn and use. For beginner programmers who just started out in web development, PHP is often considered as the best and preferable choice of scripting language to learn.
  • Open source: PHP is an open-source project — the language is developed and maintained by a worldwide community of developers who make its source code freely available to download and use. There are no costs associated with using PHP for individual or commercial projects, including future updates.
  • Portability: PHP runs on various platforms such as Microsoft Windows, Linux, Mac OS, etc. and it is compatible with almost all servers used today such Apache, IIS, etc.
  • Fast Performance: Scripts written in PHP usually execute faster than those written in other scripting languages like ASP.NET or JSP.
  • Vast Community: Since PHP is supported by the worldwide community, finding help or documentation for PHP online is extremely easy.

Tip:Do you know some huge websites like Facebook, Yahoo, and Wikipedia are built in PHP. Most of the major content management systems (CMS), such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla and Magento are also built in PHP.

Course Brief

The PHP scripting language and MySQL database together provide a powerful open platform, for creating database-driven websites. PHP is one of the most popular server side programming language with huge names such as Wikipedia, Yahoo, Flickr, Vimeo built on it. With MySQL as a database, users get a remarkably interactive website experience for free.

PHP & MySQL Course aims to make aspirants well equipped with these technologies so that they can leverage these skills for building their own projects and applications.

Participants will learn to work with forms, cookies, emails, files, and user information to integrate with their sites.

This course will also teach students how to interact with MySQL database to select, create, update, insert, search and delete records stored in tables.

This PHP MySQL training is recommended for professionals and students who wish to learn web development and existing developers who want to expand their skill set.
It lets professionals create dynamic web pages that readily interact with databases. This is a great benefit if you wish to build web based software applications.

At MAT Academy, you can put these newly acquired skills to immediate use once you complete our intensive training program with practical exposure.

Duration 2 Weeks: Full-time Students

Prerequisites for the course

As PHP is used mostly for web-development, it would be good to know a little bit of HTML, CSS, JS and how the web works.

If you are asking if there is anything special you need to know before you start learning PHP, the answer is no.
Just dive in to course and get started.
One of the reasons for PHP's success is that it has really great documentation. Every concept is broken down in simple terms and explained fully. And on each class, student learn as they create a project.

PHP is also one of the simplest and most straightforward scripting languages.

This makes it very easy to learn.

BUT in order to understand PHP effectively, you atleast need to have done other languages, such as:
HTML, because it's what PHP normally outputs to the browser
MySQL, because you'll want to store user data in a database
CSS, because it's how you add style to HTML pages
JavaScript, because you'll want to make your HTML pages interactive
We'v listed those in the order that we recommend you learn them.
